In collaboration with the local health officials, PMI organized two “Basic literacy training on Covid-19 for health volunteers in April 2020. As soon as the news of COVID-19 out break is wide spread, PMI called for volunteers from the alumni. About 60 people traveled to Pyin Oo Lwin to help at the Quarantine center. Before the center was open for Quarantine, PMI trained them with the help of local health officials.
Executive Committee members identified volunteers from inter religious dialogue training alumni nationwide to participate in the training. Ashin Seindida, core member of PMI, delivered the opening remarks, appreciating the enormous support the enrolled volunteers were providing to the COVID-19 response efforts of the nation.
Government official also delivered remarks in which he urged the volunteers to take extra care to maintain their health during this period, and take the necessary standard COVID-19 precautionary measures such as frequent hand washing, cough etiquette, and physical distancing.During the two training, health ministry technical officers led multiple sessions including COVID-19 case management, infection prevention and control, laboratory, surveillance and risk communication.
