PMI has allowed its IRD center to be used as a quarantine site. Ashin Seintita, the presiding monk of the monastery, offered his meditation retreat to accommodate Myanmar citizens who will return from foreign countries and territories with the outbreak of Covid-19 and those who have no symptoms despite their close contact with the infected patients.
Authorities from the Minister of Health and Sports Department visited the monastery on the outskirts of Pyin Oo Lwin to
inspect the preparations for quarantine which is then supervised by an officer and a healthcare team. PMI alumni stayed at the monastery and supported the Quarantine center. The facility is accommodating up to 160 quarantined persons, starting from April. 60 alumni have volunteered at the center for Quarantine.
